OC Vice Chair Katrina Foley Joins Local Leaders in Unveiling New Dana Point Harbor Parking Structure

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Today, Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Katrina Foley joined Mayor Pro Tem John Gabbard, President of the Dana Point Chamber Vickie McMurchie, Burnham-Ward Properties CEO Scott Burnham and President Bryon Ward, and harbor leaders in celebrating the completion and grand opening of Dana Point Harbor Partners’ new parking structure.

“Dana Point Harbor is the jewel of South Orange County, especially for our residents, boaters, businesses, and visitors. The new parking structure provides free community access to shoppers and diners at the Wharf and the Village, all in time for the Fourth of July,” said Vice Chair Katrina Foley. “With three levels, a new entrance, and just under 1,000 spaces, including 16 EV charging stations, the opening is an important milestone of the Harbor Revitalization. As we enter Phase Three of the Commercial Core revitalization, the structure supports uninterrupted shopping for residents and visitors during ongoing construction, contributing to our thriving coastal economy.”

At the corner of Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive, the new structure provides improved access for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Expanded walkways and increased lanes to reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety. The completed parking structure also includes electric vehicle charging stations, energy-efficient parking technology and upgraded boater service facilities featuring covered designated parking stalls, showers, restrooms and whale cart storage.

Since her election in 2022, Vice Chair Foley worked closely with Dana Point Harbor Partners and the Dana Point community on moving the harbor revitalization project forward after years of delay. Supervisor Foley’s efforts include:

  • Initiated Permitting Approvals for Dana Point Harbor Construction (2024): Broke ground on the first phase of the $610 million Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Project, which included a new parking garage, upgrades to utility infrastructure, and a new pedestrian path.

  •  Secured Approval for New Hotels at Dana Point Harbor: Secured Coastal Commission approval for two new hotels at Dana Point Harbor, which included affordable options for customers and $6 million for Orange County-based service organizations for community programs at the harbor.

  • New Public Docks in Dana Point Harbor & Requested Accessible Lifts:  Secured $3.2 million from the State to update the OCSEC docks. In June 2024, the County entered a contract with Bellingham Marine to construct the new public docks, saving taxpayers an additional $3.4 million.
