OC Vice Chair Katrina Foley Releases Statement on Ongoing Protests and ICE Raids in Orange County
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released the following statement regarding ongoing protest activity and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Raids in Orange County.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes, schools, workplaces, and places of worship. Our local business owners and community members are concerned for their safety at this time, and rightfully so.
I urge those participating in ongoing demonstrations to continue channeling your voices through peaceful protest and civic engagement. Real and lasting change is achieved through unity, accountability, and the defense of our shared values, not through lawlessness or vandalism.
I’m saddened to hear news that our local businesses and our Health Care Agency building were vandalized last night. These violent actions simply distract and provide justification for the administration to increase militarization against protestors.
The recent ICE raids in Orange County raise deep concerns. The deliberate targeting of individuals attempting to follow the legal process, including those present at courthouses, further erodes confidence in our justice system. We’re fortunate to have many experienced pro bono attorneys in Orange County, and I encourage them to step up and offer their support, especially to represent children whose parents are detained or deported.
At this time, our county remains open, and our local law enforcement continues actively monitoring the safety and wellbeing of the surrounding community.
Please contact my office, and we can connect residents to law firms and organizations organizing pro bono representation, at (714) 834-3550 or Katrina.Foley@ocgov.com.”
