OC Vice Chair Katrina Foley Releases Statement on Discontinuation of Federally Funded SNAP-Ed Program in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — This week, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley was notified that funding for the CalFresh Healthy Living SNAP-Ed is anticipated to end for Orange County residents on September 30, 2025, leaving 2,854 seniors at risk of losing these federally funded benefits.

“More than 2,800 seniors in Orange County will go hungry because of the reckless elimination of SNAP-Ed funding by the Trump Administration and Congress. These older adults rely on CalFresh Healthy Living for nutrition education and support, and it serves as a lifeline to support seniors working to live active lifestyles and self-sufficiently,” said Vice Chair Katrina Foley. “The County continues working through our Office on Aging to identify alternative resources in lieu of this devastating loss of funding. We must protect and advocate at every level to restore and protect essential services to support our aging community.”
