OC Vice Chair Katrina Foley Introduces New Mamava Lactation Pod and TSA Family Lane at John Wayne Airport

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Today, Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Katrina Foley welcomed the latest Mamava Lactation Pod at John Wayne Airport (JWA), a private lactation suite providing nursing mothers privacy and peace to feed their children in a clean and comfortable space while traveling.

“As a mom who nursed two babies, I know the stress of traveling when babies get hungry. Not everyone feels comfortable nursing in public, and layering in cover up blankets gets hot for babies and moms,” said Supervisor Katrina Foley. “I’m excited that we now offer a private, clean, comfortable space for moms to nurse before flights at JWA to reduce the chaos of traveling with kids.”

Supervisor Foley added, “I’m also thrilled to announce that JWA will implement a new expedited Family Lane to its TSA operations, ensuring new families can make it through security without delays. True to our county values, these enhancements in airport security screening ensure we’re putting families first during the busy summer travel season and beyond.”

The Mamava pod, opening this month, is located in Terminal C/Baggage Claim at John Wayne Airport. Equipped with a built-in seat, shelving, outlets, ventilation, and wheelchair accommodations, the pod can be accessed through the Mamava app or keypad.

The County of Orange continues investing more than $688 million in infrastructure improvements to JWA, including modernizing restrooms, resurfacing taxiways, installing new elevators and escalators, and upgrading the baggage handling system.

These added features for families and nursing mothers represent standalone investments in hospitality upgrades at John Wayne Airport, part of a broader effort to refresh and elevate the travel experience in Orange County.
