OC Supervisor Katrina Foley Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Laguna Canyon Road, Advancing Critical Emergency Response Efforts
ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Today, Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Katrina Foley joined CalTrans, California Transportation Commission, OC Parks, and the City of Laguna Beach in cutting the ribbon on the Laguna Canyon Road: Protect & Connect project.
“Laguna Canyon Road carries 36,000 commuters to work, school, the beach, and home again every day. The County of Orange invested $11,156,584 of this nearly $43 million project to widen the road, add safer bike and pedestrian access, and most importantly underground utility lines to prevent wildfire risk and protects a critical evacuation route and canyon wildlife, enhance the only direct connection to the 405 and the 73,” said Vice Chair Foley.

Enhancements include new bikeways and pedestrian paths, improved crossings, signal upgrades, enhanced transit stops, and native low-water landscaping. The County of Orange invested $11,156,584 in the Laguna Canyon Road Segment 4 Project, 43% of the approximately $43 million total project cost to underground utility lines along Laguna Canyon Road.

Vice Chair Katrina Foley was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2022 to represent the newly established District 5, which includes the cities of Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, a large portion of Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Woods, Newport Beach, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, as well as the unincorporated areas of Coto de Caza, Emerald Bay, Ladera Ranch, Las Flores, Rancho Mission Viejo, Stonecliffe and Wagon Wheel.
