OC Vice Chair Katrina Foley Joins Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris to Present $2M Proposition 4 Grant Supporting Randall Preserve Stewardship & Operations

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Today, Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Katrina Foley joined Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris and the City of Costa Mesa for a presentation of a $2 million check to support Randall Preserve/Genga. This investment through funding secured directly from the voter approved Proposition 4 climate bond supports climate resilience, public access and public safety, as well as early stewardship and operational setup.

“We must continue investing in and protecting our coastal open spaces. Randall Preserve gives our community a place to connect with nature while protecting critical habitat for wildlife and native plants,” said Supervisor Katrina Foley. “Thank you to Assemblywoman Petrie-Norris for bringing funding home to support transitioning this decommissioned oil field into a beloved coastal access wilderness park.”

The 387-acre Randall Preserve lies at the juncture of Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, and Newport Beach. The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority Governing Board approved the Preserve’s Property Management Plan in mid-August. The Preserve now prepares for public access and daily operations.
