ICYMI: OC Supervisor Katrina Foley Highlights Catchment Wall Construction for San Clemente Emergency Rail Stabilization Efforts

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who serves on the OC Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors, released an update on the emergency rail stabilization efforts at Mariposa Point in San Clemente. 

The OCTA and Metrolink crews along with contractor Condon-Johnson and Associates, began construction of a catchment wall yesterday to protect the rail tracks at Mariposa Point from threats of the sliding slope.

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — This week, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who was recently appointed to serve on the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency’s Board of Directors, approved the 2024 Work Plan and the Business Plan for the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency, received a report on LOSSAN’s participation in the federal Corridor ID Program, and commented on a status report on the San Clemente Track Closure near the Mariposa Pedestrian Bridge.

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today during OCTA’s Board of Directors Meeting, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who serves as a Director of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), approved OCTA’s 2024 Initiatives and Action Plan, additional funding for I-5 improvement project, and complete streets project funding recommendations.

OC Supervisor Katrina Foley Releases Comment on New Beach Trail Closures in the City of San Clemente

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley commented on today’s announcement from the City of San Clemente to close additional portions of the San Clemente Beach Trail.

“I urge residents to avoid the impacted areas along the San Clemente Beach Trail as City of San Clemente staff continue to assess the damage from the recent historic rainfall,” said Supervisor Foley. “These closures are yet another reminder of our climate reality and the effects climate change and coastal erosion have on our communities.”

Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley Announces Emergency Rail Stabilization Update

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released a statement regarding the impacts of the storm moving through Southern California on the emergency rail stabilization work in San Clemente by the Mariposa pedestrian bridge (Milepost 204.2). The Mariposa Point slope continues to move toward the track at an accelerated rate and the OCTA and Metrolink team projects that soil and debris from the slope could reach the rail right-of-way tonight.

Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley Announces Passenger Rail Service Suspension in San Clemente Due to Mariposa Bridge Landslide

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who serves as a Director of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), announced that Metrolink and Amtrak suspended passenger rail service between Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside stations due to boulders and debris falling onto the tracks as a result of a landslide damaging the Mariposa pedestrian and bike bridge in San Clemente.
