ORANGE COUNTY, California – In response to the oil spill off Huntington Beach yesterday, the U.S. Coast Guard, California state officials, Orange County Harbor Patrol and Huntington Beach Marine Safety Division responded to reports of an oil spill approximately 13 square miles in size, located about three miles from the Newport Beach coast. The oil spilled approximately 126,000 gallons of oil. Cause of the spill is still under investigation, but the responsible parties are cooperating with the U.S.

Santa Ana, CA -- Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released the following statement in response to two court rulings today that impact the City of Costa Mesa and surrounding communities. Today, Stephan Taylor Scarpa was found guilty of killing former Costa Mesa Fire Caption Mike Kreza. Mr. Scarpa was found to be under the influence of prescription opioids and had himself worked at a local sober living home.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA – Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley (2nd District) released the following statement in response to the news that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Huntington Beach resident Kim Michael Sorgente on suspicion of involvement in the riots that took place at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. Mr Sorgente is also an active anti-mask and anti-vaccine movement organizer in Orange County.

Orange County, CA – Supervisor Katrina Foley announced that the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL) program for County employees, effective from December 31, 2021 to April 7, 2022. This will ensure the health and safety of employees and the public by providing up to 40-hours of paid sick leave for COVID-19 related absences.
